Assignment - Find and share an image that you could use in a classroom situation to start a lesson, provoke a discussion or lead to class contemplation.
Like others in the class, I do not teach a course that utilizes Photoshop. However, I do use my own images to spark discussion. I teach chemistry and our discussions are to understand chemistry in the real world. For me, this picture of water is a great stimuli. I can use it when we talk about liquid, solutions, physical and chemical properties/changes. It's a great use of technology to showcase the world we live in.
Assignment - Create a simple "Digital Anachronism"
Choose a time period and use found (secondary)images to create your composite image. The image can be as complex or as simple as you like but it needs to make sense. The final image needs to be saved as a JPEG.
After you add an image to the Photoshop "Tennis" game, allow some time, then come back and see how others in the course have altered your image. Consider:
How has your image changed through the additions/deletions/changes of your classmates?
What is your reaction to this game? Is it fun? scary? exciting? disappointing? why?
How might you use a game like Photoshop "Tennis" to foster creativity and collaboration with your own students, offer ideas about other games you might play or how you might adapt Photoshop "Tennis".
I like the idea of "tennis" and found myself enjoy it, but also spending a lot of time coming up with ideas. However, since I don't teach a photoshop course, I tried to figure out applications for this in relation to what I do teach - chemistry. We could still use the presentation idea with adaptions, but it would have to be something eaiser than photo manipulation. I could see a student beginning a presentation of an activity and then each student in the course making a modification to it. Seeing the end result of the presentation would resemble what we did in this course. It's definitely something for me to consider and expand upon.
I have opted not to post a picture of the photoshop "Tennis" due to copyright. I hope that all images were used within copyright rules, but I don't want to take that change on this page.
